Oh my goodness!!! We are potty training day 4! For all you Mom's out there who have been through this, need I say more?
Hunter is 2 and a half and very very verbal. He has also actually tried to help in the diaper changing process. I know that he is ready whether I am or not. Also, I have a baby coming in August and I don't want to have to be doing the potty training thing while tending to an infant, so this is the time for us.
I think that it is going well but what do I know. I swear all the running I have done to the potty and lifting and of course cleaning poo up, if I were on a diet pill such as Liporexall, I could suspend use for a few days!
We are using the prize method. Every time the pee goes in the potty a prize is given. Well this is creating a whole different problem, from all the prizes and all the flushes, I am sure it would have been cheaper to stay on diapers. Plus I have created a prize monster. I think he would sit on the pot for hours waiting to pee just so he could get a prize.
Today was the first day he has left the house this week and we were successful so I will just keep my fingers crossed that this continues! Will try and keep you updated.

I am right there in the trenches with you! My Sadie is 2 yrs 4 months and has the vocabulary of a 4 year old and the temperament of her father! She is so darn stubborn! This AM she sat on the potty and only went after she left the bathroom! Ugh! I am using the prize method too! I hope she gets it before we fly to Colorado in August!
Hang in there, Toni. It gets easier. Keep up with the prizes... I think I used m&m's... another thing I did with my boys was that I left them naked on the bottom. They were not prone to pee on themselves, yet if they had underwear on, there seemed to be more accidents. Tripp liked to pee on rocks outside, or anything outside, for that matter. Putting cheerios in the toilet and letting them aim at 'em seemed fun for my boys, too. A little bit of dishwashing liquid will let their pee bubble. That gets attention!

I remember potty training many moons ago...for about 3 days straight he had a whole lot of accidents..then something clicked and he just seemed to get it...never had an accident since. I think Hunter is at the perfect age! You can do it!
Yeah!I know the feeling!LOL!
But he's doing really good!
Way to go lil'cowboy!
xoxoxo
Whoo-hoo!
Way to go Mommy!
Wise choice of starting him before little one comes out and before all the jealousy and fighting for more attention starts.
*laugh*
I know about the prize monster thing... oh well, to me, so long as it works, why not?! *laugh*
but dun worry, the desire for the prize will die off and before you or he knows it, running to the toilet becomes all natural...
*smile*
Hanna, who by the way has gone over 40 days now with no seizures, is potty training too and my sister isn't doing prizes but she is doing this dance and if Hannah uses the potty we ALL have to do this funny dance and sing a song that goes "Hanna peepee'd Potty, hannah peepee'd potty" to the tune you normally would do a Conga line for lol. It's uhhhhhhh interesting. Good Luck, I'm sure Hunter will be all for being the big boy on his own in no time at all.
Oh, fun stuff :D
When we trained our kids, we'd take a potty around with us...just in case. lol...oh, the memories :)
Potty training takes a long time. Hang in it, it's worth it in the end!
