onions

For the last several years we have planted onions in our garden. Last year we got a few that were usuable.

I could not understand why they never got big. Well the other day I said something to my Dad about this, he always has huge onions from his garden. He said "Did you push the dirt back from about the bulb after they started growing?" I said "Huh?"

So apparently this is the trick. I said something to my neighbor this afternoon about that and she said that what they alway did/do is after the tall green part of the onion starts to die they knock it over onto the ground and the onion will get bigger. I will be trying this. I will let you know if it works...
