Lifelock

I have been giving some thought to signing up withlifelock.

About 8 years ago while on a work related trip in Baltimore by wallet was stolen. I did all the things I thought I was supposed to do by calling and canceling my credit cards. I did not really know anything about identity theft so calling and putting freezes with the credit bureaus did not even enter my mind.

4 years later I received a collection notice for a hot check written to Bed, Bath and Beyond in Baltimore. It took months to get this company to believe that my identity had been stolen and this was after I had let the 3 major credit bureaus know about it because since the theft, there had been computers bought in my name, checking accounts opened and closed and all in the Baltimore area.

The person assigned to my collections out and out called me a liar and said that action would be taken against me, so on and so on. It was really a stressful ordeal.

Now, if I had Lifelock they would take care of all of this for me. Of course the purpose of lifelock is to keep this from happening but in the event it does they fix it for you. You don't have to spend the countless hours trying to get everything back in order.

There have been some issues brought about by the credit reporting agencies about Lifelock. According to Lifelock this is because the systems they put in place limit these agencies access to your information which they sell to companies for a profit.
